How fix DVD drive on ACER ATC-605 Desktop?

Specs: Windows 8.1, 8.0
DVD drive not recognized by Acer ATC-605 desktop computer. Tried uninstalling and letting operating system--Win 8.1--reinstall. tried to update driver with no success.

Try it in another computer (or another one in yours) to see whether or not it is the drive itself that is defective.

Since you checked out the software side of things apparently well enough, check out the hardware side of it. Check that the SATA and power connectors are properly seated. If needed try it on another working machine to verify it is gone bad. Replace if needed. If under warranty, contact their tech support.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thank you. I’m going to let Acer deal with it since it is still under warranty. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver doesn’t fix the problem so it probably is a defective disk drive

Yeah, if it's under warranty why not use it - also if you go to far you might void it.
