Any .exe or .com files?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Desqview is a multitasking DOS extender. I don't think it will run under Vista. I think you need an installation of DOS first.

Yep, Vista has no MS-DOS Subsystem, could try DOSBOX ?

DESQview was useful in the days/months before Microsoft Windows emerged in the mid 80s. You don't need it.

I can't remember the last time I heard DESQview mentioned. I guess about 300 years.

Whether of not he needs it is open to debate. It's likely much faster than winders, since it's not GUI.
