Try using good Data recovery software which is used to recover lost photos . before buying a software check the capability of the tool by downloading the demo version of the software.

Troy, did you ever get your files. I to bought a 1tb ex-hd from Toshiba. I did the back up per - control panel/system security/Backup. Afterwards I to did not see any doc files, so just to be certain, I opened the my doc's and Toshiba HD and dragged all my files from C: to external HD. Myself, still haven't heard if .rim files are needed and want to delete.

never got the .rim files restored. I still have the drive and its a paper weight right now until i can find a program that will restore the files. I have photos from 1999 on that drive and I'm sure you can see the look on my wife's face..........DOG HOUSE... I will never use backup software again. AS far as I know you can delete the >rim files and just use the drive as an extra drive, keep it simple, drap and drop....DO NOT use the software, thats what makes the .RIM files..........
