Insert the XP CD, make ure the bios is set to boot from the CD first & proceed with an install.
When you get to the partitions, delete them all.
When finished deleting, press F3 to exit.

Is there anything on that drive you’d like to save? Photos etc. perhaps?

All you need to do is remove his password & then you'll have full access. There are numerous ways to do it.

XP is no longer considered safe for internet usage. If you're intention is to go online, I do NOT recommend using it. You'd be much better of with a free modern version of Linux. https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3834

BTW, if you insist on running XP, just do a factory reset.
