How do I install wireless on my Lexmark z11 printer??

Specs: Windows 7
When I bought my first computer,my Lexmark z11 hooked up to it with a wire. Most computers nowadays do not have the port to hook up the printer. Therefore, how can I get a wireless hookup for my Lexmark printer?

So it only has a parallel port--no USB? If it was me I'd install a parallel port card in the computer and connect the printer there.

Or a parallel-to-USB (or is it USB-to-parallel?) adapter sometimes will work. There's also going to be a driver problem. This may help:

Or just divorce your Z11 and trade her in for a younger model.

The printer was made in 1999 and came with drivers for Win98. It isn't likely to function properly in any configuration attached to a Win7 computer. It has only a parallel cable connector and OP is correct in that modern hardware simply does not use that interface. To get it to connect wirelessly would require a wireless print server with parallel cable interface to the printer together with suitable drivers to run both the obsolete printer and printserver. Not likely to exist. I'm actually surprised a printer of that vintage still functions at all. I remember buying an equivalent HP printer that year and it lasted about three months longer than the warranty. Was cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace the ink cartridges, only by the time I found out the printer was faulty I had already put a set of new cartridges into it. ouch. I have finally retired the other peripheral device I have from that era.... A Flatbed scanner that also features the parallel cable connection. After a recent operating system re-install, I can not get the drivers to work.(a russian made driver for XP) The scanner would still work but who out there still runs old hardware and Win98?

Hello ealbert60,
Installing wireless on Lexmark z11 printer is not very tough. I guess, the following steps can help you...

1. Simply place the printer near to your PC. This will help in getting strong signal. 2. 2. There are two options for installation, one automatic and one manual. Printers with LCD control panels usually let you configure the wireless connection directly from them. But manually, you have to set your IP address.
3. Adjust your firewall security setting.
4. Installation can also be done without CD. If the printer is on the correct network, then your operating system will find the drivers.
5. You also need to track down your SSID and password. You can also look up the network name and password in the wireless router's Web configuration pages. Open a browser and type in the IP address of your wireless router into the browser's address field.

Note that the router has a user name and password, as well. If you never changed your router's user name and password, check the documentation for the default settings.

Sometimes, you may also require to reset the router to its defaults. You can then redefine the network's SSID and password.

@ mariamenounous

Good advice....... If the printer in question had an inbuilt wireless network interface card.
