Solved How do I get this to reset with required data missing?

Specs: windows 8
Hello, I have tried all methods of reset and I don't want to try and get a disk to restore the missing data - which is required for a reset. Is there a factory settings wipe the doesn't require getting the disc for missing data? I can't access Internet or my anti virus software. Thanks

I have an ASUS laptop running windows 8.

If I've read you correctly, you want to do factory restore without purchasing a disk and the restore data is missing from the hard disk? It's probably not possible but let us know the model number of the laptop - they vary.

What problems are you trying to fix? There might be other ways forward without doing factory restore and losing all your own stuff. I assume you can get into Windows.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Decided to throw it out completely as the windows explorer is no longer responding and I've spent enough on it. Thanks anyway.

Geeze... bit drastic to throw away a system that likely could be recovered and used... Be it with win-8x or an earlier version of windows; and even Linux?

I didn't think it was all that drastic considering my relative was reviewing my computer and he is a tech professional. I wanted a second opinion, thanks anyway

OK... I was presuming that with a win-8.1 capable system it was reasonably current kit and thus worth the time/effort to re-use... I feel that if it's just a failed OS - someone out there would be quite happy to re-install a compatible OS and use the kit...; even get it working and donate to a charity or similar.
