How do I fix the built-in microphone on my Dell D600 laptop?

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium M 1.6gHz
I just bought a used D600 and I noticed that the built-in microphone plays back only static unless I press down hard on the area in which it's located. Sometimes I can press on it and let go and still use it for a few minutes, but eventually it turns to static again. Also, the volume up and down as well as the mute button located just below the mic also have this problem. What is the first step to fixing this issue?

If possible, try removing the keyboard (while the AC Adapter and the battery are removed) and see if there are any loose wires in that area.

Or you can call the technician to help you fix the problem(if you are not comfortable fixing it by your own)
