XP does NOT natively support SATA hard drives. The SATA drivers need to be loaded from a floppy at the very beginning of the installation by pressing F6 when prompted, THEN the hard drive will be recognized.

If you don't have a floppy drive, check the BIOS to see if you have a setting for "IDE compatibility mode". If you do, enable it, install XP, then install the SATA drivers, then go back into the BIOS & change the setting.

If you don't have the IDE option OR the floppy, you're going to have to create a completely new XP disc that has the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it.

This issue has been covered dozens of times before. If you do a search, you should be able to find more detailed instructions along with links to the nLite software needed to create the new XP disc.

It may be that you also have to configure the drives in the Raid bios, computer bios and or put them on correct motherboard connectors. Sometimes they have connectors to use as non-raid drives. Might be able to set to different mode too in order to load xp.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
