|XP does NOT natively support SATA hard drives. The SATA drivers need to be loaded from a floppy at the very beginning of the installation by pressing F6 when prompted, THEN the hard drive will be recognized.|
If you don't have a floppy drive, check the BIOS to see if you have a setting for "IDE compatibility mode". If you do, enable it, install XP, then install the SATA drivers, then go back into the BIOS & change the setting.
If you don't have the IDE option OR the floppy, you're going to have to create a completely new XP disc that has the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it.
This issue has been covered dozens of times before. If you do a search, you should be able to find more detailed instructions along with links to the nLite software needed to create the new XP disc.
