It may have had ( or still has) an internal 56k modem that connects to a phone line.
What kind of external ports do you see?

I can find drivers but no user manual on the Lenovo website.

I have looked all over for anything resembling something that looks familiar...but no luck. There is no Ethernet, no USB, nothing. But it is obvious that my mom used it to connect to the internet and there is a modem built into it. I saw something in a forum where people were talking about using a PCM card or something like that. There are several unfamiliar inputs on the back under a flap... all the kind with pins.

Looks to me like you would have to have a PCMCIA modem card that plugs into the slot on the laptop. I cannot see anything that indicates there is an internal modem.

Good Luck

Could also have been an external modem connected to a serial port.

Or try looking in device manager to see what's there. Maybe an internal modem is already set up.
