Not sure exactly what you expect to gain by using a flash drive ( slower than a hard drive) as a repository for your virtual memory needs. How much real ram are you running? What size & type harddrive do you have and how much free space does it have?

It is also possible that some programs like Adobe CS can use the flash to help speed up photo cache's.

Kind of assumes that the usb flash is pretty fast too. A very slow one would have little use.
