How can I make a wireless mouse wired?

Specs: Windows XP
I have a wireless mouse and I want to add a wire to it instead of replacing the entire mouse. I am doing it as more of a challenge than a necessary hack. I don't know what the transmitter would look like on the motherboard and I want some advice on how to go about it.

I doubt whether it is possible as manufacturers are unlikely to have put the necessary USB/PS2 connections within the mouse if it didn't need them - it would be a slight extra expense.

Take a wire and tape it to the mouse.

Unless you have some very high knowledge of electronics, you won't be able to convert it. Mice are either IRDA of some radio frequency that has a tx/rx in the mouse and some rx/tx device in the computer.

Hang up and live.
