Specs: XP PRO, 1.83Ghz\3Gb
hell everyone, i have dell latitude d505 it has a problem, it shutdown suddenly, blue screen then off, when i leave it for 15 to 20 min, it starts normally sometimes gives error msgs at startup. anyway, i manage to install win XP with many shutdowns during installing,but it works fine for more than 1 hr, i install all drivers. finally i download the right bios update and start flashing it, thought maybe this will correct the problem, it starts the bios update and suddenlty shutdown without completing the bios update procedure, and now it won't start, just the power led is on, i think i damaged the bios chip, i need help please, is there are anyway to fix this, i have all-11 programmer, i need to know the bios chip location on motherboard, maybe i can flash new one and use it.

Your problem was most likely caused by overheating so reinstalling Windows was a waste of time. And if you know anything about BIOS flashing, you should know that the worse thing that can happen is the system shuting down in the middle of the flash. I could be wrong but I don't think the BIOS chip is replaceable on a laptop motherboard like it is on most desktop boards. Here's a look at your board:

Check the BIOS flashing instructions that came with the update to see if there is a way to recover from a failure. You could also check with the computer manufacturer. The means to recover from a failed BIOS flash (if any) vary widely between systems.

Yep, you may need to remove bios and reflash it.

thanks guys for help.
and jam you'r right, but i didn't flash the bios untill the laptop become stable, i though it won't shutdown again. i have my own laptop toshiba, 2 months ago i updated the bios, and it worked normaly.to jefro, i can reflash the bios chip, i did some search on google, i think the chip for this dell d505 is ST24C04, i decompose this laptop, but i couldn't find this chip any one have this motherboard circuit diagram or know where its location.
