Help To Choose MOBO, PSU for i7 6700K

December 24, 2015 at 16:00:07
Specs: Windows 7, i7 6700K
Hi,

I am also thinking about INTEL i7 ( 6700K ) (1151) to go for, my video editing work.
I'd get 8GB RAM (I think it'd be enough or may be increase soon)

a. I do NOT play games so I think I don't need graphic card (but if my work requires then I'd consider buying it in near future).
b. I will never overclock, I just chose 6700K because it seems like better option for video editing.
c. I will use 1TB WD Harddisk (Plus 2 additional harddisks)
d. Budget: I have to buy in anyway as getting a PC is must have for me so my preference is just get right the product suits to my need, good quality, durability as future proof for next 5 yrs (at least).

FYI: I want my MOBO should be future proof (approx. 5 yrs)

1. Please help me to choose right MOBO. These MOBO's are available at near by market so I prefer to buy any of these (But if you know any better option then recommend me):

ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO (1151)
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII RANGER
ASUS Z170 DELUXE (1151)
ASUS Z170 DELUXE (1151)
ASUS Z170 K (1151)
ASUS Z170 P (1151)
ASUS Z170 P D3 (1151)
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING (1151)
GIGABYTE Z170- D3H (1151)
GIGABYTE Z170- MD3H (1151)
GIGABYTE Z170X GAMING 5
GIGABYTE Z170X GAMING 7

When you recommend MOBO then please also mention why do you prefer that so that I have a better understanding what I'm about to buy.

2. Is stock cooler comes with I-7 6700K, if not then please help me to choose from the below list as these are available at near by market (But if you know any better option then recommend me)?

3. How much PSU wattage do I need for i7 6700K and which cabinet will be best? Please help me to choose the best from this list (as I don't have any knowledge or preference for these):

Why do you have virtually identical posts but about different CPUs? And why are you looking at high end gaming components if you're not a gamer & have no plans to overclock?

I suggest you go with an Core i5-6500 w/stock CPU cooler, a board based on the H170 chipset, a case with top mounted PSU, & the Corsair 430W PSU.

>Why do you have virtually identical posts but about different CPUs?
Because I am planing about new computer build for video editing and consider both the CPU's good for this kind of work and unless I know which MOBO, PSU and stock cooler or extra cooler are required for each of them I can't choose one of them and can't even calculate how much it'd cost me. I do have a budget of approx. $1K but still want to choose best efficient, a future proof (at least 5yrs) CPU, MOBO, PSU etc.. for my video editing work.

>why are you looking at high end gaming components
I'm not looking for "high end gaming components"
I might not have sound knowledge like you about hardware but whatever I researched in last couple of days so far by investing a lot of time, I found i7 6700K and 5820K are one of the best for video editing work.

>I suggest you go with an Core i5-6500
Are you sure that this CPU will handle gracefully video editing work?
