If you hit the power button and it only comes on for a few seconds, it's probably a failed power supply. Open the case and clean it out real good to insure it's not an overheating problem. If after it's cleaned, it still does the same thing. the psu is probably cooked.

Is there a fuse on the power supply? I already cleaned it, and it was very dirty, and it does the same thing.

It sounds as though it fried. I don't know what kind of machine you have, but some manufacturers use cheapo power supplies. If your going to replace it, look for a psu that has a single 12 volt rail like Corsair power supplies. Not knowing system specs limits replies. I just noticed you have a dell. List the model number.

OK, it has a 350 watt psu in it now. I would suggest you take it to a shop or have someone who's done this before install a new one. If you never changed one before, you can do more harm than good. Unless you feel confident about it, don't attempt it. They're not real expensive. You can get a 400 watt corsair for around $40.00. Good Luck.
