Why are you using HDMI & composite at the same time?

Have you set the output of the laptop to use the HDMI out? Usually you have to press the function key & F4 on HP lpatops to toggle between the built in screen and the video output.

"My laptop has HDMI port and TV has 3 pin sockets only so I purchased HDMI and RCA/Composite cable"

That makes no sense. Are you saying you have a converter cable that goes from HDMI on one end to composite on the other?

What colors are the three RCA jacks on your TV? Are they yellow, red, & white or are they red, green, and blue?

And what are the colors on the RCA plugs on the cable?

Ok there is your problem. The jacks on your tv are composite input. The cable is component, they are not compatable. You will need to get an HDMI to composite cable.
