Hdd won't show up.

Specs: Window 10
I'm trying to add another hdd, but the white sata ports next to the 2 grey ones is not working. The cable for sure works, but for whatever reason the 4 remaining white ports next to the 2grey ports are not working. Can you give me any tips at all to get the ports to work, please. I've tried all the white ports, but when I go into disk management, it won't detect my new hdd.
I went into the bios, but it's only showing 2 under device configuration.

See More: Hdd wont show up.

I'm guessing the white ports are for a 2ndary SATA controller. That controller may be needed to be enabled in the BIOS. Make/model of computer or motherboard is needed.

A Google searched turned up a couple of things. The additional ports are probably for RAID; Intel storage drivers may need to be installed.

So I read that to create a new raid, it would delete everything from my hdd and SSD. Is that correct?

I have not researched it but it would seem that there should be a way to install the drivers from the mfg and activate those ports and use them as normal SATA port without RAID.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Maybe this HP forum topic may help:

I tried some things in that forum topic, such as changing it to ahci in safe mode, since it was set up with ahci+raid. Anyway I followed the steps and now it's only ahci, but my computer won't show my 3rd hdd(technically my second hdd, but I have 1ssd too)

Also I checked the cables and it is hooked up right and I know the new hdd works because I put it in The slot of my old hdd and it found it.

I just can't seem to figure out how to have both my hdd and also my ssd all hooked up and running together.

"there should be a way to install the drivers from the mfg and activate those ports and use them as normal SATA port without RAID"

That's my thought as well.

My first thought here is are you sure the third drive is functional and fully connected (Data + Power)?

The link below has several downloads that should be helpful. I assume you have looked for the third drive in Disk Management> Storage?
