Solved HDD gained no free space from deleted files

October 13, 2011 at 11:41:46
Specs: Mac Os 10.5, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz, 2GB RAM
I have a 500GB external hardrive. I plugged it into my MacBook Pro and deleted several large movie files to create some free space on the external hardrive. No space was created. The 'Free space' level has stayed exactly the same even though the files have been deleted. I would like to access this free space. Help.

Try the "disk cleanup". It is under properties of drive (insert letter) when viewed in explorer or my computer.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

HI CeePink,

I do not know the mac os, but does it have a re-cycle bin or similar, that has to be emptied, before a file is completely deleted?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Post the question to the MAC forum here for those with more MAC knowledge.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
