BUSWANKER March 12, 2011 at 19:21:16 Specs: Windows 7, I GIG RAM
MY MAXTOR 80 GIG HDD DRIVE MAKES A BEEP OR NOCKING SOUND WHEN POWERING UP THEN FAILS " NOT INSTALLED" CAN I CHANGE THE HARD DISK TO A OTHER HDD OR WILL IT BE BEST TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP AND SEE IF THEY CAN DO DATE RECOVERY
i've crashed quite a few hard drives before and it sounds like that but mine usually made a noise like a grinding or something constantly. a good one will run smoothly when they start up until they start reading and writing... the ones that went bad on me didnt... as soon as i powered them up they would make a constant noise... yours might still be good. but as far as a shop doing a data recovery... that i dont know sorry
