You would have to obtain the username and password from your email provider.

Outlook Express is just an email program. Your username & password come from your email provider - Hotmail, Yahoo, Aol, Verizon, etc. You must know what your own email address is? For example, if your email address is jumboloney @ hotmail.com, your username would be jumboloney. We can't help you with the password, you'll have to contact the provider & ask for a password reset.

This is often the symptom of your server having temporary issues with email, so it might suddenly right itself (if it hasn't already).

Otherwise ask your server about it anyway, as this is the one area they know all about.

Note, this is NOT a hardware problem.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Yes, you must have a username and password. However, many folk (including me) set themselves up so that these are sent automatically, hence they haven't had to type them in for years. The likelihood of forgetting them in this situation is higher than some of the other password situations presented on these boards.

As a broad generality it is mainly "webmail" that requires a password every time.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
