Solved Hard drives no longer detected in BIOS

June 18, 2015 at 02:57:10
Specs: XP

Motherboard Foxconn 945 7MC Series

POST shows BIOS Phoenix V6.00PG

Setup shows BIOS 945M03.00.F1.P.14 (haven't a clue why is different from POST)

PC has been running for years with 2 SATA drives and SATA optical drive

Now POST shows no drives at all

Setup Hard Disk Boot Priority shows no drives only Bootable Add-in Cards

I am stumped
Any help appreciated

This model is almost 10 years old.
Is the BIOS setting for on-board SATA function still active?

Set the BIOS to default/recommended values can do the trick.
Or the SATA module has given up...

✔ Best Answer
"POST shows BIOS Phoenix V6.00PG

Phoenix supplies the basic BIOS program; 945M03.00.F1.P14 is a specifically configured Phoenix BIOS for your board.

It's kinda like what you supplied for your motherboard model - "Foxconn 945 7MC Series". That's just the generic series. Foxconn produced dozens of different boards based on the Intel 945xx chipset. I googled the BIOS model number & came up with this:

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/Produ...

Did you change any BIOS settings or remove/replace the CMOS battery? I had a look at the manual for the above board & the SATA settings are under Integrated Peripherals > OnChip IDE Device > On-Chip Serial ATA Setting
