Specs: Windows 7, int core duo 2g
installed o/s with no prob, but my laptop wont recognize the extra gigs on the new hard drive

Click start, run, type diskmgmt.msc & press enter. Is the correct size seen there?

List what it says. Does it show unallocated space ? Did you format the drive with the Win 7 cd? Is there only one partition?

Have a look at this article. Also look in your BIOS and see what it's listed as. If it doesn't list the full capacity, you may need to check to see if a bios update is available for your mobo. Also, go to the manufacturer's home page and download the hard drive disk utility software.
