First check BIOS to see if is detected in your BIOS. If it is, make sure that it is boot enabled. If it is not detected in your BIOS then check the power and signal cables by swapping them out with another signal cable and another power connector. If this still does not do it, then either your hard drive is bad or your power supply is bad.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

It is doubtful the problem is with the motherboard. Reread #1 above.

It really is unlikely to be the motherboard. Please recheck everything before assuming the board is bad. Post back results for more advice. You could be wasting money or at least time in replacing the motherboard and then finding that you may just be in the same situation.
