|Since your laptop is new, it probably has a SATA HDD. WinXP doesn't natively support SATA so in order to install it, you will have to do one of 3 things:|
1. enter the BIOS & change the HDD setting from SATA to IDE compatibility mode
2. load the SATA drivers at the very beginning of the XP installation by pressing F6 & installing the drivers from a floppy or possibly a thumbdrive
3. create an all new WinXP disc with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it.
If you don't do the above, you will be greeted with "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer"
Once you decide on one of the above methods, boot off the WinXP disc, do the above, then proceed with the installation using one of these guides:
Hopefully you identified all your hardware, then downloaded & saved all the XP compatible device drivers in advance? Chipset, video, sound, network, wireless, etc? It's doubtful they will be on the XP disc.
