Hard Disk Not Show Proper

Specs: linux, 256ddr1
dear frnd my hard capability is 80gb bt its not show full 80gb. it is show just 32gb why. actualy i have use xp window and i have many time formate 2000 or 98 bt it is not show 80gb . why ? any body tell me why my hard disk show only 32 gb whr. is balance partion.

Where are you seeing this? In the BIOS, Windows, or Disk Management?

Watch the POST screens at start up to see haw the drive is identified there. If the full 80GB then someone partitioned the drive into a 32GB primary partition. Look in Disk Management. If the drive was partitioned into 32GB plus the remainder then the remainder will show in Disk Management.

If the hard drive shows in the POST screens as a 32GB drive then there may be a jumper on the back of the drive that is limiting the capacity.

Another possibility is that someone manually configured the hard drive parameters in the BIOS screens to only use 32GB.

Is the file format of the 32GB FAT32 or NTFS?

actualy when i have boo from xp or other cd than appear window and creat partion , del or repaire there is my full hard disk is only 32 gb show. i have check it disk management also bt there is also show only 32 gb .
it is total make ntfs partion c:20gb and d:12 gb
