Specs: Windows XP
I had a HCL laptop . It was spoiled . so i was using the Hard disk of laptop on my desktop . It is a SATA hard disk . Sometimes i took that hard disk to my friends place and put some songs and movies . when i came home , i can not see hard disk neither in my computer nor in disk management . But the light of hard disk is on . So i went to the service center . They told me the cable is not working properly . So i changed the cable . Then hard disk is working in other desktop and laptops . But on my desktop it is not detected . I installed again USB 2.0 driver . Still it is not working . And when i pressed TAB to check BIOS settings , computer doesnt show settings . It open directly . Please tell me what can be a problem and its solution .

A hard drive connected using USB will not show up in the BIOS.

What may be wrong is that you have used bad methods of removing the USB drive when done using it.

There should be an icon that appears in the tray be the clock which is used for the safe removal of USB devices. If you disconnect the device before the drive has finished its task you can corrupt the files.

You should see the external enclosure/ cabling that you use to connect the hard drive to the USB ports. Look in Device Manager for that.

I would consider getting a flash dive in the near future.

I would also consider a good anti virus program if you are going to continue in the Tenna Net with your friend. LOL!
