Grahpic card issue

September 29, 2009 at 16:15:34
Specs: Windows XP
I NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING. I WAS HAVING THIS CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND WHILE INSTALLING A CARD, AND MADE THE MISTAKE OF INSERTING IT WHILE THE PC WAS ON. I HAD TO LEAVE IN A RUSH, IN THAT MOMENT AND WILL RETURN IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. COULD THE CARD GET DAMAGED BY HAVING DONE THAT? I HAVENĀ“T CHECKED IT YET.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE GUYS.

First off, you need to get a new keyboard since your caps lock key is broken and can't be toggled off.

To answer your question, yes it COULD have caused damage to the card as well as the motherboard. However, if you were able to insert it such that no contacts on the card shorted adjacent pins in the slot, it may be alright.

If there were any sparks flying or smoke when you put the card in, then the changes are much greater that there is damage.
