GPU re-flow for HP Pavillion dv2500

Specs: Windows Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.67Ghz
Hi,

I recently realized I have one of HP's defected motherboards. Where the solder that connects the nvidia chip to the motherboard is broken due to overheating. I've heard to fix this problem temporary a GPU re-flow may do it. Which involves applying heat to the GPU chip, this will in turn make a connection again with the motherboard.

My problem is, after disassembling the whole laptop, I have the motherboard with several chips, one of them says nvidia but I'm too sure if this is the right GPU chip that I'm meant to apply heat to, can anyone please tell me which it is for the HP Pavillion dv2500

Thanks.

Steve

"one of them says nvidia but I'm too sure if this is the right GPU chip"

Get the number off the chip & google it.

Why would you apply heat to the chip rather than the solder?
