Getting No Signal message in vga to TV

October 28, 2011 at 00:41:29
Specs: Windows 7
Using win 7 with all the latest drivers. nvidia geforce 7300 gt card. Chipset (intel) also has up to date drivers. When connecting the computer to the TV (a generic brand called "Fuji Japan") via s-video it works fine but when connecting via vga input it starts normal after boot but then it goes down hill. First, the windows loading scream shrinks and only appears at the corner of the TV and the second the windows desktop should appear I get the "No Signal" message showing up and restarting the computer or TV will give the same resault over and over again.

Important piece of info- when I connect the laptop (asus eee pc with win7 starter) to the TV VGA it works perfectly!

Please help.
Thanks :)

Suspect the resolution isn't compatible with the TV. Read the TV manual and check the native resolution of the screen. Set this in windows using another monitor or with the Svideo connected, then try the VGA connection again.

how does that have anything to do with the loosing of the signal?
and anyways, the TV starts at the right resolution but then switches itself to another resolution. Changing it in the s-video mode or another screen doesn't help because it detects if it's another screen or TV so any change I do doesn't stick to it...
and as I said, the laptop does work great with the VGA to TV connection (with the same properties).
