Are you able to get into the BIOS or is there no display at all? Do you have a decent name brand power supply? 4-pin (or 8-pin) ATX12V plug connected to the board? Is your RAM rated for 1.5v or 1.65v? Make sure it's fully seated in it's slot but if it's 1.65v RAM, it may cause a problem. Also check the video card & the keyboard plug to make sure they're both fully seated.

"I get 3 long 1 short beep at startup, i have a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, Socket-AM3. what is the problem?"

We need to know the BIOS manufacturer (eg Award or AMI) to identify beep codes, or the brand of PC would also help. The motherboard make/model is irrelevant for beep code identification.

Unfortunately, after checking all the popular BIOS beep codes and those of branded PCs, I can find no reference to "3 long, 1 short"
Please confirm that sequence is correct.

I have a 8 pin atx12v award bios and a 1.65v for rams and my motherboard is 1.5 but I red on a site that it shouldn't matter if your motherboard is 1.5 and your ram is 1.65 cus it should calibrate automatic, I don't know much about computers so I should leave that to you guys who clearly know a lot.

Does it matter if I have a 1.65 in a 1.5v motherboard?
My videocard is seated right, nothing is unplugged.

I had this exact problem today with my Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H. Looks like a ram issue. If you have two sticks try removing one and see what you get. Then try the other. I think one of my sticks is bad.

Fixed the problem by re-installing the processor and its heat-sink....
it booted up fine and now everything is back on track.
