Specs: Windows 7, Amd Athlon II/1gig
My Zx4300 pc all in one stopped working all of a sudden
When I power up I see the led light and I can hear the fan and hd powering but nothing on the screen
I tried disconnecting and holding the power supply to get rid of access power
I also tried plugging it back in while holding as someone suggested

Ok this is a little over kill I would be willing to try it and I know I can follow these simple instructions but he doesn't say why over heating it would fix it ? Isn't over heating what killed it in the first place ?

If the hardware hasn't already failed, in my opinion this idea seems like a good way to help it on it's way. This goes against his statement that "you've nothing to lose".

Reseating the CPU with paste and general cleaning would be worth a go. If that doesn't fix it and the alternative is to throw away the computer, that's the time to consider risky methods.

My guess is that this fix relies on temporarily improving heat sink contact.

"Reseating with paste"
This will give the general idea (with a rather massive heat sink shown) but you must use the exact procedure for your own particular CPU - particularly how to apply the paste:

"bin the Pc"
I've reworded that part in #3

In summary I would not use the heating up method given in #1 unless you have tried everything else and are about to scrap the computer.
