✔ Best Answer
"i just need a hard drive with windows 7 installed"
Won't do you any good, has to be an exact match with your motherboard.

Put this on an USB thumb/flash drive & see if you can get your windows install sorted out.

IF the above recovery does not work AND IF your RAM tests OK with Memtest86 AND IF your hard drive tests OK with Seatools (or your hard drive mfg's utility), THEN you can either perform a Factory Restore on the machine (see your online manual for details for your machine) or purchase a recovery disk set from the system manufacture and reinstall Windows, drivers, and original programs. IF the hard drive does not test OK then you can purchase a new hard drive and a recovery disk set 9as above) and reinstall on the new hard drive.

BUT FIRST I would recommend explaining in more detail what your problem is and get advice here on your options to fix your current installation if possible. Johnw is offering you some very good help if you are willing to work a bit for it. Giving him/us all of your details and following advice carefully is your best bet.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If the hard drive is definitely bad check ebay for that model. If you find one with a working hard drive but some other fault like a cracked screen you can buy it just for the drive. You may need to message the seller before buying to verify the drive is good. I did that with a toshiba and am looking for a couple others.

"hard drive keeps freezing up"
That sounds a little odd. Have you some reason for this reference to the hard drive? Or do you just mean that the computer keeps freezing up?

The files to create the Restore CD are most likely on the hard drive. The discs should have been created a long time ago. But if the HDD is bad, it's pointless to attempt to reinstall Windows. The 1st thing you should do is run a HDD diagnostics to determine whether the drive is bad or not.
