Gigabyte Ultra durable 3 classic ga-880g...

Specs: Windows 7, AMD Fx 8120/ 4+4
I brought a new CPU yesterday

Motherboard : GA-880GM-USB3 (gigabyte)
CPU : AMD FX 8120
Memory : 4+4 DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
BIOS VERSION : GA-880GM-USB3 FE

OS installed : I have windows 7 x64 installed on the machine.

But my problem is that when ever i run windows either of them, I can only see 6gb of ram and of which only 3.5 is useable.

BUT when i installed CPUID's CPU-Z I can see that the whole 8gb of Ram is working, i.e., hardware is fine, but how do i get to see the whole ram and utilize it fully.

btw the memory sticks are installed on slot 1,2 as suggested in user manual of motherboard

btw i dont have an extra graphic card.. using the on board one only

Also the msconfig limit ram is unchecked and der is no way for my motherboard bios for memory mapping. pl suggest any other methods to get the memory back.

How much memory are you allocating toward the onboard graphics?

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) should not effect the amount of memory being recognized, why did you install a new CPU ???

I have allocated 512mb for the onboard graphics and
@Jolicloud : i brought a entire new cpu because i had a very old system and upgraded it along with the ram.

I tried placing one ram at a time and starting my system.

Lets suppose i have memory sticks A and B.

when i place only A everything works fine but when i place only B the system is running but the monitor is not showing anything and also the beep i get at the start of my cpu is not coming. i.e., the system is not working fine. and when i place both A and B I get 6gb of memory out of which only 3.5gb is useable

Riider is right, it is probably being used by your onboard graphics. You may be able to reallocate it and limit the amount being reserved for your graphics or simply purchase a distinct graphics card and use all of it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

A CPU is a Chip on the Motherboard, what you bought is a Tower not a CPU:

And you claim to have installed Win7 64bit but the 3.5 limit applies to 32bit versions of the operating system. Are you certain of the Windows version you have running?
