Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium, 2 gb
Hi
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo L computer and a Dell Dimension 3100. I am curious to know if a standard HDD would fit into the Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo L as the connection cables appears somewhat different i.e. it doesn't appear to have a Ribbon Cable with a something a 32pin 5centimetre connecting cable. Is this because the Fujitsu Siemens is a dual core? or is it something else as obviously it is a more modern computer than the Dell Dimension. The reason I ask is because I am thinking of buying a bigger HDD for the Fujitsu Siemens and am not sure what "SATA" means.
Look forward to your reply(ies)
Many thanks

There are two different interfaces. The older is PATA/IDE (parallel), the newer is SATA (serial).

PATA drives generally use a flat ribbon cable such as THIS. SATA drives use a much smaller cable such as THIS.

hi Jam
Thanks for the information and pictures.
The Fujitsu Siemens case is sealed due to warranty. How many leads (in total) should go into the SATA drive? 2 or 3 (i.e. White Plastic Power Supply and the SATA cable. Would there be a third cable or not?
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
