Fujitsu SATA diagnostics

Specs: Vista HP, 1.86/2Gb
I'm about to reinstall Vista on a trashed laptop with a Fujitsu HDD. I want to check the drive before installing but the latest diagnostic software I can find (fjdt v7.0) doesn't appear to recognise SATA drives (version date is 2007). Has anyone got a link to a SATA compatible version or any other options? (Tried e-mailing Fujitsu, but I'm not holding my breath..)

I have read that Hitachi fitness test works on any brand. I don't know if that is true or not because I haven't tried it myself. Below is a link to all the fitness tests.

Thanks for that, I've got the Hitachi test so I'll give it a go.

Seagate's SeaTools program will test any brand, but it can only attempt to repair Seagate or Maxtor drives.

I'd dispute the bit about Seatools only being able to repair Seagate/Maxtor drives. I've just had a Seagate drive start to go bad on me so went through the testing process with Seatools. For a start I could only run the generic test - the rest just didn't do anything, & the generic test just came back as 'fail' - not a lot of use. RMA'd it anyway & replaced with a Western Digital in the meantime - no brownie points for Seagate/Maxtor.
