Specs: Mac OS X 10.6, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2
Can anyone recommend a free utility for cloning a hard drive? I need a bootable copy. It can be Windows or Linux software, thanks.

Go to the hard drive manufacturer's website & download it for free. You didn't bother to list a make/model so I can't supply a direct link.

I was thinking of a third-party solution. Something like SuperDuper, but that's Mac software.

Both the drives are old Maxtor drives. One is IDE and the other is SATA, I want to make a copy from one to the other.

I'll see what Maxtor have.

Is there an operating system on one of these drives?
If so there is a possibility a cloned operating system will fail to boot if the original was IDE and the clone SATA. The clone will lack the necessary SATA drivers that an operating system needs to boot.

I used the freeware version of xxclone to make a bootable copy, it worked fine.

G4U, or any live cd or floppy with dd.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
