Floppy disks don't use UDF format, CD's do. You are formatting a CD disk not a floppy. Drive D would also tell you it's a CD/DVD drive, floppy drives would be drive A or B.

How exactly did you format it, what program did you use, and is it a CD-R or CD-RW?

"floppy drives would be drive A or B"

I was thinking the same thing. Are you using an external floppy drive? How did you go about formatting the floppy disc?

I seriously doubt he's formatting a floppy, it would not have mentioned udf format unless his system is really hosed up.

Sorry - should have said CD RW. It was formatted in InCD in the standard cd/dvd drive integrated with the computer.

There seems to be no difficulty in writing to a cd with data on it
