Folder on old hard drive says access denied

January 1, 2011 at 11:57:45
Specs: Windows XP
I have an old hard drive that I am attempting to get files from. I am using a universal drive adapter. Most of the folders are accessible except one. I think this is the folder that I, the administrator, saved my files in. I can access the folders from all other users. I would appreciate any help.

That happens when you try to access folders or files that were on a different Windows installation and at least one user had a logon password.
You need to Take Ownership of the folder(s) and files you get the Access Denied message for.

NOTE: you probably have to reboot the computer before the settings you change actually take effect!
.....

or - you need to use a third party program that can do the same thing.

E.g. Unlocker (freeware)
Works in various circumstances.
