Specs: Windows 8.1
my operating system is windows 8.1. when I first put files on my 256Gb usb pin drive it works fine. Then at some point any further files disappear from the usb pin drive; but the folder containing the files remain visible.

This has worked for others (I've modified it for Win 8):

Press Windows key and X key.

Select "Command Prompt (Admin)" from the list - say Yes to prompt.

Type X: in the black box and hit Enter key BUT substitute your pin drive letter for X and don't forget the colon. Check that X:\> is now showing (but your pin drive letter).

If so, type this exactly as written (there are 6 spaces) then hit Enter.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

See if this helps.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I didn't get a prompt to place a yes answer in after selecting "Command Prompt (Admin)"
Thank you very much.

When you select "Command Prompt (Admin)" you normally get a "User Account Control" window and have to click the "Yes" button. You then get the Command Prompt Window which is black with white writing. You type in there.

I've just tried it on my this computer Win 8.1 and it was fine. Where does the above go wrong? If it goes straight to the black Window then it is worth continuing but you must be using "Command Prompt (Admin)" not just "Command Prompt".

OK. I have UAC turned off, so I didn't get a prompt to enter yes. I just repeated the procedure as you instructed and everything went as expected; however, this did not solve the problem. I re-formatted my flash drive and added folders and files. Everything went well until I exceeded 25Gb, then the files started disappearing again. I went through your procedure again but it didn't solve the problem.

Thanks for your effort to help!!!
