floppy drive 0 diskette failure

Specs: Windows 26.09.2009
Running Vista when i start up computer i get a 0 diskette failure message...have to press f1 to continue.

Get into the BIOS, look for the option 'floppy drive seek on boot' and disable it.

Do you even have a floppy drive? If not, go into cmos/bios setup and disable the floppy controller and set the a: drive to NONE.

no floppy drive..running a dell inspiron 530s..use an attachable floppy drive and wife did not disconnect from computer before turning computer off and when she turned it back on she got the diskette drive 0 seek failure

I doubt the error is coming from the external but just in case, disconnect it and boot up again.

And, as mentioned above, check cmos/bios setup for on-board floppy support and disable it

If by chance, external floppy support shows in cmos, disable that and see what happens.
