Is there data on that drive that you need to recover? If so, post all the information listed for that drive in Disk Management.

Do you have a laptop or desktop computer?

Hi IDLEEDO,

Did you try different USB ports?
Did you try connecting the hard drive to a different computer?

If the hard drive works properly on different computer, try removing USB Hub from device manager. Open Device manager. Click > Start > type devmgmt.msc

Right click on each USB Hub and choose to uninstall.

Thanks & Regards

The reason folk are asking you to try things is in order to help diagnose the problem. We can't do it from here and this particular situation is not one where we can say just do this or that and it will immediately fix the problem. We are trying to get an idea where the trouble lies so that we can give the best advice.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Go to Start Orb> Control Panel> Computer Management> Storage> Disk Management.

Does the external drive show up in there? You should be able to tell by the capacity of the drive. If it shows then post ALL the information listed for that drive under each column.

OtheHill
In the device manager the WD My passport 070A USB Device external drive is seen and
in the properties under the volume category it shows-
Disc3,Type-unknown,Status-not initialized,Capacity-2096482 MB,Unallocated space-0 MB,Reserved -0MB(After clicking the populate key the above information pops up otherwise to start with its blank)

Under General section it says The device is working properly and Location - on USB mass storage device the driver is up to date
Driver version is 6.0.6001.18000
Thanks!

Try DISK Management instead and post all that is shown there. May or may not show more than you have already posted.

Can you provide any additional information on this issue? Did you remove the disk improperly? Was there a power interruption?

If you try it on another computer it will prove whether the drive itself is defective or not.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
