Hello All, I have a 75 Gig USB external drive which I have attached to our win 2k3 server since I have to pull data off from time to time. Everytime I reconnect the drive I have to go to disk management and assign a drive letter. The drive is recognized in disk mgmt; just not given a drive letter. Is there a way without writing a logon script to have it so that when I plug the external in it automatically gets a drive letter or the drive letter that it was assigned before. I have tried different usb ports on the server and get same results. When I was running windows 2000 I did not have this issue. So the hardware is the same we just upgraded to 2003.
Wanted to add that this drive is formatted and there is about 40 gigs for data; there is only on partition. When I plug it into worksations it does get recognize with a drive letter. Is this a windows 2k3 issue only
