I have an EPSON SX515W and I have changed the Ink's in all of the colours Including Black.- All Genuine Epson
I tied to print out a document and nothing happened - No Black Text?
So I ran the Head Cleaner several times just to make sure, tried again - Still no black
Ran Head Cleaner a few times and still no joy? Starting to think about a printer and a window
When I run the test page after I do a Head Cleaner or Nozzle Check there is black there, however when I try to print a black text Document there is nothing on the page?
I have then changed the Black Cartridge to see if it was that, that was causing the problem, however it still does not print any Black Ink
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, the Printer is just over a year old (same old story its out of warranty) before that window and a printer starts to look good again
IF its a replacement refilled cartridge that may be the issue( sometimes the microchip faults). OTherwise you might check here

Try changing the printer settings to print in black instead of auto. The purpose is to see if the issue is with software, which it appears to be. Otherwise the test print would not print in black. "before that window and a printer starts to look good again". What does that mean?
Hi Mike
Thanks for the link, will give it a go over the weekend as I will have to go buy more Ink as after all the head cleaning etc when I switched it on tonight it informed me that it did not recognize the cartridges aah, then checked on the printer software and it showed that two of the cartridges were empty.I am sure that printer manufacturers do this on purpose and that somewhere there is a printer that works great all the time, but they will just not release it to keep us going.

I was on the verge of throwing the printer out of the window at one point as they are a pain, as I have said, need to get more ink will be back in and let you all know the outcome. Thanks Again

IF you have an ink refilling place near you, you might call them an see if they can reset the chip. :: mike
Hi
I followed the instructions on this link and after a few attempts it worked. Thanks for the link, if I had not found out about that wee window/panel I would have ended up binning the thing and bought a new one.
Sometimes I think that is what printer manufacturers want you to do shower of "swear words"
Thanks again for all your help and to the others for their suggestions.
Toby
Thanks for the reply. As the other posters suggested its not always clear as to which solution will work best in a given situation. Glad you wasted less money. :: mike
