Enable a disabled radeon 5850 video card

November 19, 2010 at 13:35:47
Specs: Windows 7 premium 64-bit oem, core i5 /8gb ddr3
The radeon 5850 was disabled in device manager and now i cannot see anything on the screen. This was all done after a fresh install of windows 7 64-bit premium oem.
I swapped out the radeon with my old nvidia 8800gts to see if installing the drivers for radeon would help but no luck.
Im pretty lost at this point and any help would be great.

Disabling the video card in Device Manager will not affect the boot screen. If you're not seeing anything on the screen at bootup, the problem has nothing to do with what you did in Device Manager.

Try booting to Windows Safe Mode by tapping F8 at start up. You should be able to see graphics in Safe mode and make the necessary changes. Basically, remove the drivers and remove the listing for the add in card. Then reboot. Windows should install the card.
