Specs: Windows 7
Hi there, I got this HP Pavilion dv4 mx1275 several years ago. And it's been a few years since its screen started malfunctioning, getting to a point in which it will just not work, it stays black, although the computer does start and initialize windows, lights lit, sounds work, etc... Later I got a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge. I'm broke now and can't afford expensive repairs and devices, external monitors, etc... Plus I am living in China and not easy to get things right sometimes. So, what is the easiest and cheapest way to connect them, without having to set up anything at all in the HP, like a plug-and-play thing, and use the Lenovo as external display to get immediate and smooth access?

I really need to take a look at the contents of the HD and want to avoid any extra expenses such as disk enclosures, etc... Really desperate. Thanks a lot in advance.

An enclosure for a single 2.5-inch SATA hard drive costs less then £15 if you buy from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...

They are quite safe to use as far as data integrity is concerned.

Can't be done as there is no input port on either laptop which feeds a video signal to the built-in screen from one laptop to the other. I know of no laptop which has such an input port.

You'll have to save up for a new screen or external monitor.

Don't you have a TV that you could use as a display? Your laptop has an HDMI port.

No I don't, I probably wouldn't be asking if I would have that! And no friend or relative I can get for doing this at the moment... So... Perhaps disk enclosure? which I am not sure if my HD would be in peril and if it is costly or not...
