DVD player doesn't play

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2.391 GHz / 509 MB
I have windows Media Player version 6.4 My OS is Windows XP. The problem is Media Player will play one side of a DVD but not the other. The DVD's are not damaged or scratched or dirty. How does it detect one side and not the other? What can I do?

DVDs don't have data on both sides. Where did you get the idea they did? If you are referring to DL (dual layer) DVD media there is still only data on one side of the disk.

Is this a serious post or are you trying to pull a leg here?

I have several double-sided DVDs in my collection. Most of them store the 16:9 version of a movie on Side A, and the 4:3 on Side B. I also have a few DVD-Audio "hybrid" discs: high-res 24/96 DVD-A on one side and standard DVD-Video on the other.

WMP will not play DVD-A, if that's what your side B contains. Take a look at the DVD in WIndows Explorer. Does the Audio_TS folder contain ATS & AOB files?

Why not download VLC player instead? It's probably the best free multimedia player for Windows. It supports most of the audio/video file formats out there and has all the codecs installed already. I used it for about 6 months and it has never crashed or had any bugs since that date.
