I FOUND THE FIX FOR DVD DRIVE DISAPPEARING AFTER INSTALLING ITUNES
I found the problem was to be software collissions between ITUNES and HP Memories Disc. I tried all the registery stuff and that never fixed things. I simply uninstalled the "HP Memories Disc" application using add/remove programs everything was fixed. I am plastering this fix all over the internet as I have spent hours upon hours looking for a fix and would love to help the 1000s of people I have seen post about this (TRENT)

Then convert its format to fit itunes.
