DVD drive doesn't recognize the DVD it wrote

Specs: Windows XP, 2.66G/1.0 G
My DVD-RW, very often, dosen't recognize the disc after it is written by itself. But the written disc plays well with my DVD Player . Please help. Thanks.

The burner chip is not the reader chip.

I suspect the drive is bad.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

But my other drive doesn't recognize it either. I recall that just after it finished writing, it always says please insert a disc. That is only with DVDs. For CDs it work OK.

Try burning at slower speed. I suspect the burn laser has weakened and replacement of the drive will be your only solution.

Guess you could try another brand new disk of a different make. Could be an issue with the disks.
