Drive tray is not opening,Different problem

Specs: Windows XP
Hello,
Sony DVD drive tray is not opening, initially i thought it must be drive problem, so took it to claim under warranty, there they checked for faults, but no faults came ,it worked perfectly. The technician said it must be bus problem, so i bought new bus, after installing new bus it was working good for a while, later again the same problem popped out. Now i again i replaced the new bus with the old bus, the problem was solved temporarily, latter again the same fault appeared, now again i replaced it with the bus that i bought previously as said, now its working. so i came to a conclusion that there is no fault in both buses. The sata ports of my motherboard are working perfectly when checked with hard disk, the Sony DVD drive that i use has sata connectivity. please do suggest me what would be the fault?? thanks in advance

when i press the eject button the light keeps on flashing (NOTE:it doesn't blink, continuous glow of light found) for around 5 seconds, even when the tray is empty. Then the tray does not eject,,then i turn off the Pc replace the bus, drive works fine for both read & write operations..then the same problem repeats later. NOTE. I TRIED MANUAL WAY OF EJECTING BY INSERTING A PIN IN THE HOLE ALSO, THEN TOO OT DOESN'T EJECT

Don't connect the sata data cable use only the power cable, start the system and press the eject button.

sir, i will try your suggestion as soon as i get the problem again,. Few minutes ago i got the same problem, now instead of disconnecting both power wire & buses to DVD , i disconnected power wire alone and connected it again,i didn't remove the sata bus, i was surprised to see the tray opened, then later after few restarts, again the problem occurred, I tried the same, didn't touch the sata bus, just removed the power wire and connected it,, was really doubled surprised to see the tray opening as soon as eject button is pressed,,so now i have 100% confirmed that there is no problem with sata port of DVD as well as the one in mother board..now i am puzzled as how the power wire is affecting the disk tray-open operation, while power to dvd is received that i confirmed by seeing the light glowing in dvd .. surely i will work on your previous suggestion by removing sata bus and not touching the power bus so that i can also confirm the problem related to power wire, and will get back to u soon, thankU

What are you calling a "bus"? There are 2 connections to a CD/DVD drive - the power cable & the data cable. Disconnect the data cable but leave the power cable connected, then try the eject button. Does the tray open? If not, the problem is most likely with the drive itself, not the cables. Optical drives are cheap ($20 or less) & are considered "throw-away" items. In other words, it's cheaper to just replace it than to have it repaired.

You need something better than a pin. Try straightening a paperclip, insert it in the hole until it makes contact with the "release" mechanism, then push firmly. It takes a good amount of pressure to open the drawer.
