I have to copy some files from my computer to an older one. I believe the old computer has a 128GB hard drive capacity limit. Can I plug in my 500GB external drive without risking data corruption? Thanks.

External drives are recognized by the OS software and not the bios. So if the OS is capable of seeing a 500 gig partition on the drive it'll probably be OK.

Now if you plug it in and the OS doesn't see the drive or sees it as empty then stop there and remove.it.

You're not really green until you're soylent green.

Thanks, Dave. It worked.
I forgot how slow USB 1.1 is.
