"make and model is a great quality # GQ6120"

There's nothing great about "GQ" PCs. It's a cheap-o store brand available from Frys. The GQ-6120 is an old S754 system, here's the basic specs:

CPU: AMD Sempron 2800+
Motherboard: ECS 760GX-M
Chipset: SiS760GX
Memory: 256M DDR

Here's the motherboard: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...

According to the board specs, the sound is "Realtek ALC655 6-Channel audio CODEC". Download & install this sound driver:

Direct Download - WDM A4.06

EDIT: if/when you click on the above link, give it time to load

You need too download them, go to device manager find out the type, then google, probably something like realtek.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

We need to know the make/model/model number of the motherboard or the make/model/model number of the computer, then we can point you to the drivers to download. You'll need them for the motherboard chipset, graphics, audio, network, etc. Windows most likely loaded generic or outdated drivers (or none at all). If you're running XP, make sure to install SP3 & IE8 right away.

In the hardware profile it will (or ought to) actually state/show what the device is;its make/model number.

Equally if you go:

Start\run and then type in " msinfo32" (no " " ) and press enter/return…

it will generate/create a report of what's in your computer. This will include software (and their keys) and all hardware - and the full details of the audio device will be there.

Useful to save this report as a file (on and off the hard drive; and also print it out - for future use (not the least software keys).

What make/model is your computer?

If it's not a home built one then more than likely the drivers (all of them variously) will be on the manufacturer's website (e.g. Dell, HP, Acer to name but three). support\downloads area.

Not sure I understand why you can't get a hardware profile?

Does it boot to a normal desktop?

If so...

Download/run Belarc Advisor and run that utility. It will also generate a report of the entire system - keys, hardware etc.

Save the report off the system and also print it out - for future refence

I note that the model you post would appear to be one of Frys GQ brand? If so have you considered contacting them re' possible drivers etc.?

It doesn't need Word to run Belarc and print/save its results.

I don't understand why you can't run msinfo32 though to the same end?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300887

It's the same routine for XP, win-7 as well as Vista...

You say it has Google...; do you mean Chrome browser of another similar browser?

Can it connect to the internet?

If the OS is XP..(the specs above say XP) then XP comes with an earlier version of Internet Explorer; and ought to be upgraded to IE 7 (or possibly 8) - which is as high as it can go I think with XP?

But if you can connect to the internet as is do so and run Belarc at least...
